
Sportsmen's Cannery and Smokehouse
first opened it's doors to
the public in 1953. Fishermen and women from all over the world would
gather on the Oregon coast each year for runs of salmon, tuna and halibut
fishing, not to mention some of the best rock fishing to be had anywhere
in the world. There was a real need for a business that could prepare and
preserve their catches for the trip home, thus Sportsmen's Cannery &
Smokehouse was born.
Things haven't changed much over the past 50 years. Fishermen and
women still flock to the coast each year and are being greeted with new
record breaking harvest from the waters of the blue Pacific Ocean. I'd
guess as long as there are still fish and fishermen, Sportsmen's Cannery
and Smokehouse will have a place in Winchester Bay.
We have grown over the years; we have kept up with the newer and better methods of preserving our
customers' catches, and we still pride ourselves on delivering the freshest
and most flavorful fresh canned and fresh-frozen
or smoked seafood products available anywhere.
